Olivia Quote of the Day

This morning, Olivia was in conversation with Mom, when suddenly, she jumped up and ran out, calling, “B-R-B!” which is the acronym for “be right back”! It was so funny because we didn’t even realize she knew about it, but there she was, saying it over her shoulder as she dashed from the room. :D

Catching Up

Hello all! It has been forever!! I apologize for the enormous gap between this and my last post, but until now I was so busy and blogging never really made it on my priority list. Sorry! I'll try to do better. :)

I was looking back over old posts, and I saw that I had not posted at all about the thing that has been occupying 3 days a week, every week, all this last winter, and pretty much every day now that it has been warmer: horsemanship.

Ever since I can remember, I have loved horses! I think that most children do, at one point or another, but I have always wanted to be around horses, and hopefully, one day, ride them. I have never had much opportunity for horse riding lessons here in rural Indiana, but the Lord did bless me with several wonderful memories of riding horses when I was younger. A few trail rides with my Dad and some of my siblings, a glorious 2 hours of free riding for my 10th birthday, and when I was about 13-14, my brother surprised me by getting me horseback lessons from a friend of ours that he worked for. She owns a few horses, and she was so kind to give me lessons on a paint pony named Samwise, and once - oh glorious day! - on the back of her half-shire, Strider. But she was always very busy and lived 45 minutes away, so after maybe 20 lessons which were far-between and scattered over about a year and a half, the lessons sort of tapered off.

But then. The Lord in His infinite kindness led us to our new home, which is so beautiful and my mom's favorite house so far. In blessing us with this house, He also blessed us by leading us to a house just one and a half miles away from a lady who owned 3 beautiful horses! He blessed us again by this wonderful lady's kindness and generosity, and last August she and her husband allowed me to come and take lessons on their Arabian-Quarter Horse pony, Li'l T, in exchange for me mucking their stalls 3 times a week. I could not be happier with that arrangement and I feel oh, so incredibly blessed that God led these wonderful, terrific people into my life! Thank you, God.

It has been my dream for a very long time to ride in our 4-H Horse and Pony project, and Mrs. B. has been so wonderful as to allow me to enter with Li'l T in 4-H Horse and Pony this year!! So, that has been what has taken up so much time lately. Since I am very, very new at all this, I've been practicing a lot, and God has given us wonderful weather in which to do so!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Thank you Mom, for being so encouraging and taking me to the barn and allowing me to do things with T and Mrs. B. Thank you Mrs. B, for letting me ride and play with your wonderful pony, and for taking us on so many wonderful equine adventures, with more to come! Thank you Lord, for putting all these incredible, unbelievable events and people into my life.
Thank you.

Olivia Quote of the Day

Apparently I won’t be doing this every day, as I had hoped. At least not this month; December is far and away too busy!! But, the quote.

We have some friends coming over tonight, including a very good friend of mine whose name is Jan. Olivia was originally going to one of her friends’ house tonight, but changed her mind after all. I asked her if she was sure, and she said, “Yes, because Jan is coming over tonight, and I love Jan!”

So sweet!

Olivia Quote of the Day

I am doing yesterday’s quote now; it was so funny!!

Mom was doing history cards with Olivia, and Olivia was quizzing Mom on the different kinds of Egyptian pyramids and the like. Olivia asked, “What was one of the biggest ones?” Mom answered, “The step-pyramid?” “No.” “The pyramid at Giza?” “No” “Pharaoh Menaz’s tomb?” “No” “Well … I think that’s all the ones we have learned so far …” Olivia told Mom she would give her a hint, and began blowing out of the side of her mouth. It took a moment, then Mom asked, “Cigarette?” Olivia excitedly exclaimed, “YES!!! The Cigarette at Marduk!” What she meant was, the Ziggurat at Marduk!

Olivia Quote of the Day

Dear sweet Olivia Clare is at that age where a day does not pass without some funny quip or another. Alas and alack; we forget so many of them! So, hopefully I can keep up with it, I will Lord-willing post the “Daily Olivia Quote,” to keep those funny moments recorded. :)

Today’s Olivia Quote is this:

Noah and I were eating leftover peanut-butter-chocolate-├ęclair cake from Kate’s birthday yesterday. Dad was sitting with us eating his supper. Olivia walked into the room, looked at Noah’s and my plates, tapped Dad on the shoulder and asked, “So, how much do I have to eat before I can have some of that?” Funny girl!!

Happy Birthday to Kate!!

My dear sweet sister is turning 14 today!! What a wonderful sister she has been, these last 14 years. She is beautiful, graceful, a wonderful dancer, a fantastic older (and younger!) sister, a god-fearing young woman, and an incredible friend.  :)  I love you, sis.
